It is ok to be a selfish person!

There are so many negative implications connected with the term "selfish".

The picture has changed nowadays. Mental health professionals have defined two main forms of selfishness.

One is the Destructive Selfishness. The person has no feelings or interests for other people. They are able to ruin another’s life, health and career for achieving their own goals.

Another form is a Healthy Selfishness. The person is focused on their own goals, pursues their own interests, but does not do this at the expense of others.

Maslow define Healthy Selfishness as self-respect and self-care, personal growth, happiness, joy and freedom.

If you feel you need to improve your Healthy Selfishness

- take care of your health, do not bring it to a state of physical and emotional exhaustion;

- achieve what you want, but at the same time try to not interfere with others striving for their goals;

- consciously choose what you need, what is useful for you, and refuse everything that takes your strengths and hinders development.
